Joey Wiseman

Joey Wiseman is the Executive Director in the Office of Middle and Secondary Learning at the West Virginia Department of Education. He oversees all content areas in grades 6-12, including implementation of the College- & Career- Readiness Standards. He has been at the Department for 10 years, three of those as Social Studies Coordinator and seven as an administrator.

His public education service incudes 19 years as an educator in Boone County Schools at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels. Three of those nineteen years were spent at the Central Office as a Transition Specialist.  The last 10 years have been spent at the West Virginia Department of Education for a total of 29 years’ experience.

Mr. Wiseman holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies from WV Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in special education and advanced course work in educational administration from Marshall University.   His certifications include, social studies, specific learning disabilities, behavior disorders, mentally impaired, principal, superintendent, and supervisor of general instruction.
